Rusmur Floors...The one stop flooring shop

This was the appointment I was the most worried about...and by far the only one for which we had done extensive research. Fresh from the meeting with the Guardian rep,we were anticipating an onslaught of extensive information and choice palettes, as this seems to be the pattern for every meeting we have had up until now.  Given the fact that there are so many options to chose from.... hardwood(real or engineered), bamboo, vinyl, laminate, marble, granite....I'm sure you get the picture....we were worried that we would end up liking materials which would put us way over our budget.

The week before the actual appointment, we spent a lot of time scouting Home Depot, Lowes and other local stores, in an attempt to find out the nuances of every material and what appealed to us the most... this, I felt helped us during the meeting, as we had already discussed what were the must haves on our list.

Even though Rusmur floors has many beautiful and cost effective options at their store, Ryan homes allows you a limited choice range which are fairly basic. All flooring materials: hardwood, vinyl, granite, carpet have 4 grade options( based on quality) and possibly 1-3 choices in each grade. As a result of these scant options, finalizing our choices was not that hard.

We decided to go with hardwood floors for the entire first level, stain-resistant carpet for the basement and basic carpet with a thicker padding for the entire 2nd level. We selected granite for all our bathrooms and laundry room and a simple accent tile for around the tub in the master bath.

I have attached a picture of our selection below. The darker cabinet on the left and the granite sitting on top of it, is for the kitchen, while the other cabinet and the tile selections below it, are for the bathrooms. The tiny bit of carpet seen in the left corner, is our carpet choice for the basement.

While I wished we had nicer options to chose from, we still left the appointment pretty satisfied with the selections we made..... and for once we did not change "ANY" of our choices 24 hours later...now that is a first for us :)) !!!

  1. We were a bit overwhelmed at our appointment with RiteRug. It seemed like the carpet choices were never-ending.

We did hardwood for the whole main floor as well, with carpet and pad upgraded all the way to 10 for the basement and 2nd floor.

I like your selections! It's going to be beautiful.

  3. Looks great! Can't wait to see them all put together!
We were overwhelmed at our flooring appointment. I wish we had had a pricing sheet to look at instead of constantly asking what each upgrade would cost. We ended up going back a couple weeks later to upgrade our selections. I plan to go back again to ensure that I still like what we chose back in September! DH has refused to go back...

    1. I completely understand that feeling...It is so hard to pick one option and stick to it because the swatch looks so different from the final product. I stopped thinking about the selections once it was done, because I knew it would drive me crazy and it was highly likely I would want to change it...Hopefully you wont want to change your selections..either that or you will convince DH to go back with you!! :))

  4. Unfortunately, we were sent to one place for ceramic and another place for carpet and wood (both an hour away). We are also not going to have any carpet on the first floor. We are putting ceramic tile in the kitchen. I saw many tiles that I loved, but they were not available for Ryan customers to choose from. Your basement carpet looks like the same carpet that we choose for our basement. Is is shag carpet? Today, I started second guessing myself on shag in the basement, so I made an appointment to go back later this week to choose a berber carpet. We upgraded to the highest padding for the basement and put standard carpet upstairs with a level 3 padding. I cannot wait to see your home come together.

  6. I have a 2nd meeting with Rusmur this weekend because I'm not happy with anything I picked out and I come to find they will let me have anything in the store! The one girl there showed me a HW option that would be the same price as the level 3 HW we selected originally! It's a lovey chocolate brown with hints of warm aubrun tones, I was mad though because at my original meeting the rep knew I wasn't happy with the choices and she didn't mention I could go "out of the program" it was another girl that was working when I stopped in a few days later that mentioned that to me! But everything still looks great, the contrast with the espresso cabinets is nice with the lighter floors and I'm in love with the pot filler! you can check out my blog at http://theroadtovenice.blogspot.com
